Milltown, DARRE Initiative
Situated on the edge of town in Richwood, WV, the Milltown building has the opportunity to revive the once thriving creative community within the town.
Standing at roughly 10,000 sq. ft. the building situates distinct artist spaces for the use of making, teaching, communing and living. These spaces function between private and public programs which divide the building in half, holding space for both creatives and community to co-exist.

A main living volume for resident artist overhangs the main atrium space. This relationship allows the space to function as both a home and a studio, while making use of the existing structures existing windows and access to light. The light filled atrium becomes the heart of the project for the artist.
