Go-Go Museum Artist Housing

The expansion of DC’s Go-Go Museum is a transformative project that brings 16 much-needed affordable artist housing units to Southeast DC, supporting the area’s vibrant creative community.

The Go-Go Museum is located in the heart of Historic Anacostia, DC.

Guided by a commitment to meaningful community engagement, this initiative was shaped by listening to and collaborating with local residents to ensure the design truly reflects the neighborhood’s needs and spirit

Numerous massing and programming iterations were physically modeled as part of the engagement process

The façade seamlessly integrates the textures and proportions of historic Anacostia architecture, honoring the area’s rich heritage while introducing modern functionality.

Each component of the Facade was carefully considered and integrates, light, green space, streetscape connection for residents and visitors.

Key features of the project include a rooftop garden and event space, outdoor balconies that weave greenery into living areas, and the preservation of the Go-Go Museum’s beloved secret garden—a dynamic venue celebrating the cultural legacy of Go-Go music.
