Blossom Bakery

Located in the heart of NE DC, Blossom Bakery converts a recently emptied restaurant store front into a community kitchen. At only 630 sq. ft., the storefront is maximized through a distinct spatial blocking brought to life through color.

Transforming a shuttered Domino's Pizza into a vibrant, contemporary, community-oriented bakery on a shoestring budget requires creativity and resourcefulness. Here's how we did it:

  • Color and Simple Finishes: We embraced the Cherry Tree branding palette to bring warmth and vibrancy to the space.
  • Light as Signage: Strategic lighting extends the interior's ambiance onto the street, creating an inviting presence.
  • Local Craftsmanship: Collaborating with local artisans, we introduced fabric panels that soften the once stark, commercial interiors, adding texture and charm.

              Phase 1 Plan

With limited spatial opportunity, accents within the color blocking highlight the space further. Lighting between suspended fabric panels, two toned floor tiles, and a hand crafted tile counter, all center the main service space.
